He was formally trained at Brooks Institute of Photography and as a commercial photo assistant in San Francisco, Ca.
Uncontacted was born when David
was awarded a Fulbright to investigate the plight of the Huaorani. With cameras in hand, the photographer entered into a universe hidden from our own; his photographs opening
up one of the world’s most remote and unknown corners of the planet. |

Empowered with the resources
necessary to enter into the Huaorani’s world, David acted as a key conduit of information between the Huaorani and the many parties holding interests in the area.
David spent seven months with the Huaorani, recording the presence of illegal logging, oil contamination, and violent attacks against the uncontacted
groups. The information he gathered was presented to the Ministry of the Environment in Quito, and has appeared in both local and
international media outlets. |

Uncontacted is a response to our
society’s increasing support of oil
and logging interests in the region,
providing an accessible outlet to
battle the ongoing exploitation of
Ecuador’s Amazon. |
